The 10th annual Keaau Village Lighted Christmas Parade was Saturday evening in Keaau.
This year’s parade theme was “A Green Christmas — Reduce, reuse recycle.” Among the entries were marching bands and units, three sizes of floats, classic cars and Santa Claus.
The grand marshal was prosecutor Mitch Roth. The parade was dedicated to the memory of one of the founders, the late Arline Macanas.

Second Place: Hawaii Horse Owners Inc.
Marching Band
First Place: Waiakea Intermediate School
Second Place: Kamehameha Schools — Hawaii
Third Place: Keaau High School Band
Marching Units
First Place: Paradise Roller Girls
Second Place: Keaau Elementary and Keaau Elementary PTSA
Third Place: Keaau Middle School Leadership
Big Rigs
First Place: DC’S Towing Service
Second Place: Christmas at Nana’s
Third Place: Coca-Cola Refreshments
A decorating contest also was hosted in conjunction with the parade. In the most “Green” category, Keaau Elementary PTSA received the most votes, and in the most “Festive” category, CU Hawaii Keaau branch received the most votes. Both winners will receive a gift certificate from Big Island Candies.
